- Report Card Break Out - Damon Wright & Marren Rocca Hunt
- Secondary grading committee
- Spring school board did a study session, grading committee last year able to identify some interest and areas that need exploring before we move forward, talked about administrator regulations, barriers faced with standards based grading, a lot of questions came up, need to make sure we are transparent with colleges/universities
- Currently 20 people on the committee - currently studying the information and seeing what direction we want to go. Elementary schools changed their report cards and their grading practices. Do secondary grading practices etc. match what elementary is doing.
- The Echo way is not a state mandate - juniors and seniors are frustrated with how we are grading they just want to know their grades
- There was an interest in reporting more than a letter grade
- Is there a way that we can provide formative information to parents
- How does this pertain to special education
- We are developing our students to be successful and we want them to have agency
- We have students getting straight A’s, but they aren’t meeting the standards as far as the CAASPP is concerned
- We want site reps to take information back and let members know when the committee meeting is and if they are interested in attending that they are able to.
- Approx 20 people on the committee (5 administrators and 15 teachers) October 11, 2017 is the next grading committee meeting anyone interested is encouraged to attend. Damon will send time to Gayle and she can get it out to all of us.
- There is no timeline as to when this will be rolled out. It is a lengthy process

- Walk Through Protocol - Maren Rocca Hunt & Damon Wright
- Teachers will be notified if their classes will be one of the classes that people are coming into
- Michael McDowell - looking at the practices of learning walks never dug deeper to see what the kids were getting and thus this year we are focusing on what the student is getting. If students can articulate what it is they are learning they have Currently working on 2 protocols: 1)student interview and 2)
- a better chance of truly learning it.
- Maren shared the powerpoint with Ginger and Gayle and they will share it with all of us. It is low stress and we don’t need to do anything different.
