- Covers $1000 in pet bills if animal is traveling with you and injured
- Form needs to be filled out if quote is wanted

- Preliminary NVEA budget was presented
- Few more items needed to clear through Travis in order to close accounts and have all at Umpqua
- transitioning to an easier accounting system through excel instead of quickbooks

- Formula Overview and News - Dr. Roach tabled until a later date due to family emergency Gayle shared whatever information that she could and she will invite Wade to a future meeting

- Comparison of Formula is made between what we have last year, what we have this year, and the difference is what affects our salary adjustment.
- There was some overspending as far as the NVUSD budget is concerned from last year
- We have 1.25% increase in our salary. It will go to the school board on Wednesday morning. Pay will retro back to August. Should show up in our November paycheck.

- info was gathered regarding special education there is no state limit 1 out of 5 ratio without a co-teacher and 1 out of 3 with a co-teacher
- Gayle has flyers for event that NVEA & CTA is putting on through Cordelia group Cordelia instructional Leadership Conference on 10/8/16
- There are pocket calendars available for site reps to take to their sites

- STRS - October 17th and November 16th in office holding meetings in Napa office group meetings for under 55 indiv meetings over 55 call 800 number to set up a meeting

- Corey Morton made a motion and Karen Fleming seconded the motion to pass the bylaws
- Echo -continued issues.
- It was recommended that each site set up a google doc for teachers to document ECHO issues/concerns that can be shared with the district.
- ECHO is something that is non-negotiable. Gayle is meeting with any and everybody sharing issues. ECHO just isn’t going to go away.
- We have to give it time for the bugs to be worked out.
- Letter went out from Dave to everyone apologizing for the glitches, progress reports dates were pushed back.

- Leadership Conference Share out- Kristin shared that political action going on as part of the union(CSO) within the union(CTA) is upset about retirement benefits.
- Mike is our point person for grants through Institute For Teaching they hand out $5k to $20k for projects at schools only 98 applications for Northern California

- Prop 55 - CTA is endorsing a yes vote on prop 55.
- 2018 the sales tax increase will go away
- read up on the props and make an informed decision for yourself
- We can wear buttons while we teach.
- ads are on TV 54% are in favor 38% opposed there are 17 initiatives on the ballot and is a big concern with voter fatigue after the 4th or 5th initiative and they are tired they start voting no we can’t afford to have that happen
- we need 5 extra votes in addition to our own that will carry this prop through
- if 55 goes down we are in trouble
- ¼% sales tax expires at the end of this year

Chavez award program CTA member must sponsor a group of students who are applying for grant can sponsor up to three students must be on the same school campus of the students you are sponsoring 1)written essay on Chavez’s legacy social justice, human civil rights issues, empowerment etc. in education no biographies 2) visual arts application due fri 12/2/16 postmarked by that date more info on CTA website under scholarships
