- Calendar Input -
- Meeting this Wednesday to develop survey regarding the calendar. Questions will be asked about community events, starting school on the Monday versus Wednesday. Survey should be out to members by next week.
- We have input and can give our views but we cannot negotiate the calendar. The calendar is being relooked at.
- It has been at least 25 years since we started school after labor day. There is talk about whether we need 3 weeks at christmas break as well as the week at thanksgiving.
- Survey will also include start and end time. Gayle wants all to participate and make sure our staff participates. If we want a voice we have to use our voice.
- Reason for 2 days of professional development is because of the amount of trainings that are taking place in the district causing sub shortage. District is using an outside agency. These additional PD days will not be the discretion of the site.
- The reason we don’t have a voice in the calendar is because we do not have a voice as far as where the dates are put. A scope of representation was handed out. The blue represents what we can do and the yellow is what we can consult on.
- 180 days is not open for negotiations unless they are a charter school and they can go down to 175 days. All information regarding number of days and number of minutes information can all be found on the CDE’s website.
- By days being added to the calendar we actually get paid for being present a full day. If we go to a workshop and get compensation we only get $150 which covers the cost for a sub.
- Parents will also be given the opportunity to take the survey on the calendar.
