- Fire Update - Anyone who was evacuated for more than 7 days gets money back from CTA if they apply. NVEA has 2 ½ members who lost their homes. Gayle was in a meeting with Patrick up until 3:30. There were 4 NVEA/CSEA members who lost their home in its entirety. We do not have to make the 10 days up we will be paid our salaries for those days. Teachers are in Group 3. Other units CSEA, NAPS, Group 2 - mandatory call-ins are being given 16 hours of comp time. Communication provided by the district was great.
- Conferences - are going back to teachers, it is site based and no short days, there is no precedence being set. We have been given 9 days of paid time. We need to keep that in mind when we think about staying after 15 plus minutes to hold a conference. How the conferences are handled is a site based decision.
- Instructional Minutes - The district has applied for a waiver. We are not losing any money, extending the school year, or losing any “break” time.
- NVEA support - We have $84,000 in our savings account. CTA’s Disaster fund compensation for total loss is $3,000. At state council over $6,000 was raised in cash. There is a go fund me account set up through CTA North Bay due to 100 teachers losing their homes. It was suggested that NVEA give $1,000 to the teachers and 1 year out retiree’s who completely lost their homes. CSEA is giving their people $1,000.
- NVEA Office Maintenance - Air in the NVEA office will be replaced on Thursday!
- Budget Road Shows - will be rescheduled
- Agreement - Dana and Alejandro will be coming to the site rep meeting to explain the difference between those who got paid for the 10 days versus those who get comp time at no cost to the district.
