- Welcome
- Review of Agenda
- Norms
- Budget
- Possible layoff impact - more than likely looking at lay-offs this year )(reduction in force) We are down 200 kids just in middle school alone. There are currently very few temporary teachers at the present time. Temporary are still filling back-fill positions.
- We wont have an actual seniority list until later on in the year
- Permanent teachers will more than likely be affected
- Staffing ratio currently is about 1 to 22.
- If we went to contract 168 we would loose 48 teachers
- We are looking at different kinds of things and each school deciding on what different types of programs they want at their site
- Elementary staffing ratio is their class size (article 13)
- If you are a title 1 school you have to have a site council to include teachers, parents, students, and SPSA created together as a team
- We need more funding from the state
- Parks & Rec is paying more money for using our facilities etc.
- If we have to go into lay-offs or legal coming in it is unsure what our coverage will be because our CTA dues are so low.
- We use a system called digital schools and there is a problem with digital schools and the county is getting rid of digital schools at the end of the year. Running the seniority list is going to be messy and everyone needs to keep a copy of what they turn in
- Rep Council Reps
- Add refresher piece to rep meetings
- What a site rep does
- Uphold contract, making sure there is representation and that the contract is being followed
- Directives and what can and cannot get you fired
- If a grievance is filed it comes directly to Exec board
- What a site rep does
- Add refresher piece to rep meetings
- NVEA/NVUSD Council (Negotiations)
- Committees
- Adjunct - no information to share meeting Tuesday 11/19/19
- Committees
- Family Leave - Their is contract language but nothing to share
- SPED Contract Language - Meeting Tuesday 11/19/19.
- Gayle met with Terri Lynne, who sent out an email regarding teachers needing to scan and upload all documents with signatures into SEIS.
- New scanners will be purchased for every sites special ed with training to come.
- The compliance people are on NVUSD because there have been and continues to be a lot of mistakes on IEP’s over the last 6 years. According to TL those making the mistakes are being notified.
- Stipends -
- Mostly comes up with secondary teacher lead and the contract language around that
- Issue mostly at middle school (formula: for every 150 students there is 1 lead)
- Each school is given a given amount of money and it is divided up however each site chooses.
- DS (Digital Schools) is wanting things in better fractional amounts.
- There was a request at the site rep meeting that there be a district wide job description which would limit positions at given sites with given programs. Each site should have a job description.
- Healthcare -
- It was recommended that NVEA go out and get quotes from different companies and share the information so everyone is in the know regarding different options.
- If everyone is aware of what actually is out there regarding health insurance they may realize that we may be better off sticking with what we have
- CPGP - there needs to be some fixing
- Elementary WL - Prep -
- Rob liked how Canyon Oaks handled prep (10 min of prep at recess, 10 min of prep, 30 min of prep, early release)
- Rob would cover yard duty at all elementary schools so all teachers would have a 20 minute chunk of prep time not broken up 10 minutes here 10 minutes there etc.
- If a specials teacher was to be added at every elementary site, it may eliviate the issue.
- Communications
- Another newsletter is ready to go out
- Continues to be alot of people not signed up with home email.
