  • Can Food Drive
    • If you didn’t bring your cans today and you are secondary you can bring them tomorrow

  • Toy Drive
    • Ginger and Gayle will come and collect toys if you have them on December 13th or 14th.

  • Fire Victims
    • Gayle went up with Alyson Brauning of VTA  and delivered toiletries and gift cards from NVEA and VTA.  They have lost everything. They are very appreciative for anything.


  • Holiday Cookies and Crafts
    • Santa will be present can take pictures with Santa. Please be sure to RSVP.

  • IBPS training
      • New Reps attended on 10/23/18
      • All Reps
        • Secondary will attend on 11/27/18, Elementary will attend 12/4/18
        • Needed to RSVP to Noris and let Gayle know if you can’t attend
        • Need to come with your administrator

  • Good Teaching Conference
    • There is an overwhelming response for people wanting to attend the Good Teaching Conference.  We will go through the list and take those who haven’t attended or who are new teachers.
    • If you are on the list to attend and you do not attend you will need to reimburse NVEA for your hotel and registration fees.  

  • Calendar
    • Committee meeting taking place tomorrow

  • Schedules at Secondary
    • It was asked who has schedules changes in place for next year.
    • Mostly affecting Middle Schools

  • Negotiations  
    • Committees
      • Impact
        • Moving forward with building a model where all resources are looked at and considered before adding more on to teachers workload.  
        • Dr. Mucetti isn’t against doing away with something that we are already using.  If it doesn’t make sense with education it can be done away with. It has to be what makes the most sense with students.  
        • Everything is up for conversation
        • If it doesn’t tie in to the strategic plan then it isn’t worth moving forward
        • Strategic Plan will be rolled out and presented at the board meeting on 12/6/18

      • Counselors
        • Survey sent out before Thanksgiving to see what programs at different sites
        • Looking at job responsibilities and how some of the social worker duties overlap.


      • SPED
        • Last time we met we came up with 5 main focus areas
        • This most recent meeting we focused on tool box, sped admin is handling this and there will be a training for psychologist in January
        • The district is looking at having a template for teacher files especially when it comes time for file exchange.  Some files are handed over with information going all the way back to preschool. More info to come

      • PBIS
        • Will meet in January

      • Professional Growth (Eval)
        • Still under pilot
        • Email went out looking for volunteers to sit through next part of pilot program

  • Communications Structure
    • Will make an effort to get minutes out to you by the end of this week

  • Next Member Engagement Event
    • Any suggestions please let us know
    • Bowling party was suggested

  • Elections
    • All exec board and NVEA officers are up for elections.  If you are interested in running for an exec position email nvea.cta@gmail.com.  Please let members at your site know
    • Ginger Dunn will be sworn in as trustee to the Solano County School Board on 12/12/18


  • RSCC and State Council Info
    • There is an RSCC meeting January 5, 2019 with State Council meeting at the end of January

  • Human Rights Award
    • Forms for CTA’s Human Rights Award are due January 8, 2019. Please nominate a colleague.

  • Air Quality Rubric
    • Was drawn up during active fire in the actual city where NVUSD was located.
    • Gayle spoke to Jerry Eaton and the rubric that was being used was the EPA rubric.  We weren’t the only districts that were affected
    • There will more than likely be something coming down from the state that is more clear since the entire state has been affected by the fires.
    • District Website message was very unclear
    • Numbers were in the 190’s on Friday, 11/16/18
    • The air in our classrooms was not clean.  There were kids coughing, etc.
    • What talks are taking place for the future?  We will ask for a plan which will happen during negotiations
    • District received a lot of feedback from teachers, students, parents, etc.
    • Teachers who have pre-existing conditions and there are no subs available teachers went to school sick, is there a way to ensure that subs are used

  • No December Meeting, we will meet again in January
