Welcome - Presentation from California Casualty regarding fire and insurance
Check in - Gayle checked in to see how everyone is doing with the fire and told her story. We will be paid for the 9 days we were out. CSEA had about 150 people work to replace the air filters etc. Our contract is 182 ½ days with 180 days of instruction. State requires so many instructional hours state has a wavier that is in the process of being filed. EWA non-salary hourly wages will not be paid (teaching an intervention etc.) Gayle doesn’t want us to have to make up any of the days. We will not be taking the ICA and IBA so we can gain some of the instructional days that we lost. NVEA has 3 members who lost their homes. Question was asked if waiver would count towards STRS, Gayle will check into this. Power point from Maren was sent to all administrators and all site reps. Only ask from the district is that we honor meeting with our parents. We have the ability to hold conferences within our workday. As far as those who job share they need to talk to their site administrator. The Union never asked elementary teachers to work beyond their instructional day, but said that they could if they so chose. Message from someone higher up needs to be sent out again to principals regarding conferences and how they are to be made up. Because we are employees of the state of California if there is a disaster we fall under the category disaster employee. More information will be coming to us in December. Would like to see the district send out a message about not overloading kids with trying to “cram” in information for the 10 days that we have lost.
