- Welcome
- Leveled District Wide All NVEA members meetings 3:30-4:30
- Purpose to review interest based problem solving (IBPS) before we send a survey around contract negotiations so everyone is clear what we can and can’t negotiate.
- Link will be sent as the dates approach
- Courtney Garcia gave a brief overview of the slide show that will be shared at the leveled district wide NVEA meetings
- Elementary April 20
- Middle School April 22
- High School April 27
- California Casualty
- Quote Fest notify Gayle if you are interested in getting a quote from California casualty. There will be a given day and time for a mass quote fest via zoom.
- RIF Update
- All RIF’s received their notices by 3/15/21 and the meeting was held with the lawyers
- We went from 39 FTE down to 22 FTE RIF’s - 17 multiple subject (15 at Elementary and 2 Middle School core), 3 English teachers at secondary level and 2 art teachers
- Currently down 456 elementary students which is more than the demographers predicted
- Waiting on master schedules to be completed to see what the need will be at the secondary level.
- Middle school teachers were concerned about the blue notices they received last year. They aren't the same as a RIF. The purpose of the blue slips was to make sure teachers were teaching within their credentialed subject matter.
- FTE is set and there might be shuffling of teachers from one site to another
- AB86
- New CA Language from the state regarding in person instruction.
- In person instruction must be taught by an in person credentialed teacher (came from the state).
- This applies to the ACE program as well. (Ace program is all virtual students)
- Prior to the new language, the teacher was teaching from home and a paraprofessional was in the classroom supervising the students while the teacher taught virtually.
- If a teacher is out on quarantine there will be an official substitute teacher.
- The hard date for this to take place is 3/15/21. There is a rolling date for other districts who have not opened yet with funds being affected.
- Interactive process is a legal process that must happen and is between the district and the employee, not a union matter, however if you would like union representation Gayle is available.
- Target date for all teachers to return to in person teaching is April 6, 2021.
- Substitutes are allowed to come into secondary classes to serve as the credentialed teacher.
- If the doctor says you can’t return, then the doctor would have to put you out on FMLA.
- New CA Language from the state regarding in person instruction.
- NVEA/NVUSD Council Update
- PE - interest in setting a cap for total contacts

- This is for PE only and not music, art, leadership, etc.
