Secondary Schedule Adjustments
We have the same exact schedule as we do now with the following changes
  1. Every period will see entire class either virtually or in person at the same times
  2. Does away with asynchronous time
  3. We will no longer see ½ of our class
  4. Kids will go all day
  5. No more asynchronous assignments
  6. Won't be doing lessons twice (chief complaint from survey)
  7. Teachers will have a daily prep
  8. In person time has doubled (5 contacts with kids a week)
  9. Teachers will see all of their kids at the same time just ¼ of their students in person

Questions:

Early flight - will students continue to remain virtual?

Students who chose to remain virtual how long will they be on screen?
Students will be on-line for 5 hours

Early flight will have to be in person if not how will they get to school by 8:10?

Is there a way to split the kids in an early flight class when they come in person?

Will schedule change from 1, 3, 5 on M/TH and 2, 4, 6 on T/F to 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6?
RMS will probably find a way to stay 1, 3, 5 and 2, 4, 6

Will we still be having the roomers and zoomers?
Yes teachers will still have to room and zoom

Why can’t we do in person learning in the afternoon all the time?
You can’t have all the in person in the afternoon who are in the am cohort who want to be in person

Late Flight what is happening?

Teachers will have to prep for every day now with the new schedule and issue of time?

We are limited to 6 ft distance (CalOsha standards) between teacher and students. What does that look like as far as bodies in person?
Teachers will have no more than 15 kids in person

Will teachers have to redesign their seating with the new schedule?
No new schedule does not affect the in person cohort numbers

Is the district setting us up to transition to Phase 3?
It will eventually happen right now we do not have a set date.  District was looking at february for phase 3, however we are trying to push it back, still up for discussion

How many deaths is the district ok with?
This isn’t coming from the district, it is coming from the county

Is there going to be another survey for parents and students?
There will probably be something coming out but we don’t know when

How is this going to be rolled out to parents and students since it was confusing for teachers to understand?
Kids will be in person the exact same time as they are now the only difference is what they will be doing and the class periods they are attending.

Whatever happened to the survey that was supposed to go out at the end of the semester and what will the impact be?
Our district is sitting at 37% in person kids attending as of winter break, email will probably be sent out just not sure when we don’t have control

Will they be able to mandate vaccines for employment?
Jerry Eaton said any organization can mandate COVID-19 vaccine as a condition for employment.  This has not been discussed yet
We are struggling with student engagement. What is this going to look like now with the kids attending longer?

What about the upperclassmen who are working, having less hours to work especially if they are working to provide income for the family?

Will a draft be sent out to all members?
Yes it will be sent out to everyone, it was important for our secondary site reps to see the schedule before we had council on 1/12/21 and before the townhall on 1/13/21

How does this impact students who are taking classes at NVC (usually our most high achieving students)?
Make sure administrators have a list of those students who are attending classes at NVC so the issue gets addressed.

Is there a mechanism for administrators to make accommodations for students who are working or are enrolled in college classes with the new schedule?
Need to know how many students the new schedule affects, not sure if administrators have leeway with

What about schools with different schedules like Valley Oak, ACHS, etc.
No discussion has been had yet
