      • CTA has received emails regarding accommodations and reasonable accommodations is part of federal law and not something that is negotiated
      • If you get a letter from a doctor saying you need an accommodation a meeting is scheduled with the district to make sure the accommodation can be met.
      • Options are to take an FMLA if they qualify with their doctor (that is a paid leave) Kaiser patients that have been provided 1 generic letter is not specific enough can go to a non-Kaiser medical professional that is more restrictive than what they currently have.
      • We all have our own individual health issues and concerns.  It is not done as a group.  We are making our sites as safe as possible according to California Department of Health

  • NVEA/NVUSD Council - Discussion
    • 2020-2021 is the year to renegotiate our contract, however COVID has gotten in the way and we have spent the year negotiating COVID issues
    • We only have a few more months left in the year and in our contract.
    • Exec Board feels that our time in council would be better spent negotiating COVID issues, thus extending our contract through the 2021-22 school year where we can really focus on the contract and nothing else
    • We don’t want to add additional stress on the system making sure our members have input and our focus currently is on COVID.
    • We have a relationship with the district around MOU’s
    • Would like more transparency around what council will be negotiating as far as the contract is concerned.  A survey will be coming out later around concerns
    • We negotiate the contract based on what is brought up by our members through the survey
    • Contract negotiations comes from issues and concerns brought to us by our members
    • Our contract has a lot of language that needs to be cleaned up.
    • A question was brought up wondering if there was a place on the NVEA website that housed all the MOU’s that have been written.  It should be on the district website under employee resources with all the MOU’s that have been written since 2018.
    • This doesn’t extend any term of office of NVEA officers

  • Transfers
    • Next Friday, March 3, 2021 is the deadline for those employees interested in transferring
    • Probably won't be a lot of transfers since there are going to be layoffs.
    • No specific date for notification of transfers.  It all depends on availability
    • Transfers have to happen before the last day of school.

  • Reduction In Force -layoffs
    • PKS
    • 39 positions (22 multiple subject, 3 middle school core, and secondary positions
    • Originally down about 615 students, after making personal phone calls the district has gained about another 150 students
    • Notifications for RIF’s will go out by March 15, 2021
    • Anyone receiving RIF’s who are permanent need to be referred to Gayle to ensure legal representation
    • Everyone that was laid off last year was hired back for the 2020-21 school year
    • Principals will probably get informed next week and will notify staff
