- State of California is constantly making changes to the rules and causing chaos
- Current Landscape
- Attendance/Engagement change mandated by state negotiating about it for the last week
- State is asking for engagement attendance not about funding recorded keeping is to track truancies
- State Template
- Too much to do for 168 kids
- New Process
- A if absent, T if tardy and don’t need to do anything else
- The office or the teacher could go back and change a 3 only if they want to.
- The 5 days to clear was just to be able to clear absence
- Attendance/Engagement change mandated by state negotiating about it for the last week
- Letter - from Rob going to state capital asking for a waiver to get rid of log all together
- Schedule Process
- Are a nightmare and Gayle is aware of it and has information from just about every site
- Most common is people are tired, not enough time, don’t like cohorts
- Aware letters are being written some are professional and others are not
- Please contact your site rep to share your schedule concerns
- NVEA Council Members will be negotiating this at our meeting tomorrow 9/1/20
- State is constantly changing the rules
- Purple means can’t go to school, red means we can go to school (in person)
- Will be looked at tomorrow for the second time and the third time the Tuesday after labor day.
- If we have enough time restriction could be lifted by 9/14/20
- This is where schedule comes in to play with cohorts and phased in approach and
- Asking for two weeks of collapsed time and the need to have something on going (Wednesday collapsed time) we don’t have solid facts

- As of july 31, 2020 checking 13,647.68, savings $68,938.88, budget based on membership 846 members association dues paid 10 out of 12 months $146.00 if interested in working on the 2020-21 budget please let Karen Fleming know. She needs 4 people

- Prop 15 - Michelle Washington, CTA Rep
- Schools & Communities First - Prop 15 will be on November 3rd ballot
- Reclaim $12billion per year for K-12 schools, community colleges, fire fighters, police etc.) $4billion goes to education.
- NVUSD would $1.766million
- Asking members to complete a form and that they are committed to voting for Prop 15 and to see if we are going to get enough votes to pass this measure. Talk to friends, family, neighbors, etc. encouraging them to vote yes on prop 15 and will help until the economy gets back on their feet
- Learning Continuity and Attendance Plan (LCP) - Presentation by District
- Only saying what you are responsible for and signing for the time you are giving for the asynchronous time and the time we are teaching
- Going to board on 9/10 and then for approval 9/24/20
- Getting some money this year and then the rest for the 2021-22 school year
- 10% cut avoided the cut through borrowing, we need to bortrow $40million just to cover payroll
- Decline in enrollment is affecting us currently seeing a decline of about 1100 students, however we are still enrolling students
- CA will not have ability to fully fund our budget for 2021-22 and there has to be cuts because state can’t continue to borrow money
- Will receive funds to help mitigate learning lost, employees (can be repurposed)\
- Need to spend $6.5 million by 12/20/20. It is one time money can be used for chromebooks, learning software, textbooks, but not for salaries or raises.
