- Survey for next year
- Family leave - We need to go over the language and see what is happening in other districts that is good and working and could possibly be added to NVUSD.
- Total compensation education
- NVEA self educate
- Goal is to have members teach mini workshops on areas that they have expertise in such as behavior management, etc.
- Gayle is interested in having workshops for our members as a means for member engagement.
- There is a lot of change happening with NVUSD building usage after hours and use of facilities that all comes down to money.
- We also need to take advantage of CTA trainings.
- There will be some technology training coming because of the new front of the room devices that are coming.
- The amount listed on the salary schedule does not include benefits
- Interest Based Bargaining
- Discussion was had on what is working and what isn’t working. A lot of what was in this workshop doesn’t pertain to NVUSD because we do IBPS.
- Part of the workshop that coud be helpful would be “Training” especially the threshold questions, drafting language etc.
- Communications Structure Plan
- Gayle was sent something from CSEA called SMORE, which is what they use for getting info out to their members. Gayle would like us to check this out and provide input.

- Last Exec Meeting
- Currently scheduled for May 13, 2019. Ginger unable to be present, changed to May 16, 2019 at Napa Sport 5:30. Courtney to look into reserving the room.
- Issues
- Dues increase
- We need to look at raising our dues. They haven’t been changed in the last 25 years.
- Our dues are $106 a year which is not enough money if we have strikes and the cost of non-mandatory representation.
- If we do a gradual increase and are transparent with our members it shouldn’t be an issue. Need to provide the reason why, etc.
- Dues increase
- Charters
- Amount that the charter schools are being charged for facilities is going to be changing. Current usage fees are based on 2004 prices and it is now 2019.
- The site rep at River has been asked to review the contract which they aren’t following. This will bump up with the Red for Ed on May 22, 2019
- Bylaws
- Conversation was had about two spouses not being on exec board together since the district doesn’t allow a spouse who is principal to have their spouse as an employee at their site. One spouse can not be in charge of the other spouse etc.
- Steve recommended that Gayle reach out to Jerry Eaton
- RSCC and State Council Info
- Red For Ed May 22nd
- Every member was sent an email from CTA that talks about charter schools and supporting the AB bills.
- Gayle is concerned that we have gone to target charters and it makes it difficult since we have members who are teachers at the charter schools.
- The Charters are being asked for an equal playing field when compared to non-charter schools. This affects more of the independent charters, not the dependent charters
- Red For Ed May 22nd
- NBI Update
- In committee Gayle took the Lice issue to state council and it is in a student services committee
Next Meeting - May 22, 2019 at Napa Sport
Meeting Adjourned at 4:50pm
